Scarborough Street Greenspace, Dewsbury, West Yorks

A large open green space was rejuvenated by the addition of playgrounds, trees, sculptural features and mosaics. The overiding theme for the artworks was the around the textile industry, an industry in which people within the area had worked in since the Victorian era.
The main entrance feature uses two bobbin like forms to support a threaded archway.

The pathway mosaics take their inspiration from a hexagonal patchwork quilt pattern, with it's textile swatches.

The mosaics from the seating area were designed by local young people who used a loose form of geometry for their layout.

Some button seats which take their inspiration from the textile trade and are perfect to perch yourself and chat to friends for a few minutes.
