I love making things and problem solving.
I have a passion for creating focal points of public art in the environment that bring a unique identity to a location. I like to introduce colour and texture into places and to introduce intriguing details into the big spaces that make up our towns, cities and rural areas.
I enjoy the roles a ‘public artist’ has to take on from day to day – in addition to engaging as a visual artist you have to be an engineer, educator, designer, builder, marketing person, community worker and for certain spaces of time you find yourself involved with different and contrasting aspects of society.
Working in this way I have made a whole range of artworks using all kinds of approaches and materials, such as stainless steel sculpture, mosaic and cast bronze, that respond to particular sites, and perhaps, most importantly they respond to the people that I have collaborated with along the way to create them who offer inspiration, support and deadlines!
I try to bring my own vision to project and make it broad enough to encompass ideas and contributions from other stakeholders within the community and like to leave a legacy that can be taken ownership of, and enthused about long after a project has been completed.
I hope you enjoy your visit to my website.
