PUBLIC COMMISSIONS

2010              

  • Bulwell Joint Services Centre, Nottingham.Resident artist to design wall and floor artworks within this new public service building. Commissioned by LIFT Nottingham.

  • Chapeltown Waymarker, Leeds; a welcome sign for a distinctive area in Leeds being developed with extensive community consultation. Commissioned by Leeds City Council.

  • The Thornville Triangle, Dewsbury, West Yorks; a landmark sculpture commissioned to celebrate the regeneration of the Scout Hill area of the town. Commissioned by Kirklees Metropolitan Council.

  • Scarborough Street, Dewsbury; an extensive community consultation will lead to the design and installation of a series of sculptural and ground based artworks for an area of green space that is being developed into a community leisure facility. Commissioned by Kirklees Metropolitan Council.

2009           

  • Chadderton Well Being Centre, Oldham; artworks for the reception area of a new build library and leisure facility. Items include floor design, folding glass partition screen and reception desk graphics. Commissioned by Community 1st Oldham.

 

2008           

    • Rashcliffe Park, Huddersfield; artworks for the park developed after a period of consultation with local residents. Features include a playful sculptural feature. Pavement mosaics and mosaics on step risers. Commissioned by Kirklees MC.
    • Stanningley Primary School, Leeds; sculptural 'star' features for the school grounds.
    • The General Infirmary at Leeds; partition screens, mosaics and mobiles for a post operation recovery ward.
    • Sycamore Ave Fence Panels, Golcar; decorative panels inspired by the weaving industry and local schoolchildren. Project managed by Loca for Kirklees Council.

2007            

    • St James Hospital, Leeds; a fishy themed wall installation and partition screen for the Gledhow Wing operating theatre waiting room. Funded by the Hospital Charitable Trust.
    • Woodland Mount Mosaic; part of the refurbishment of a small community park in the heart of Chapeltown, Leeds. Includes designs from 150 children at Bankside Primary School
    • Kimberley Place Mosaic; sited in a cul-de-sac in Harehills Leeds, made and designed by the residents. Commissioned by Groundwork Leeds for Unity Housing Association.
    • Memorial Mosaic, Kerr Mackie Primary School , Leeds. In memory of a pupil of the school.

2006

  • Gipton Wood Mosaic; community designed mosaic created as an entrance feature to a piece of urban woodland. Commissioned by the Friends of Gipton Wood.
  • Bridge Panels; designed in conjunction with local community organisation and high school students. Commissioned by the Environment Agency.

 

 

2005

  • Elements @ Space; Lead Artist for a mosaic on the frontage of Space @ Bracken Edge, Bracken Edge Primary School in Leeds. With a theme of the Four Elements, the piece included approximately 500 individual mosaic designs from school children, local community groups and the partners of Space @ Bracken Edge. Nine artists commissions were also installed as part of the overall design. Commissioned by Space @ Bracken Edge with funding form Arts Council England – Yorkshire, Artforms and Bracken Edge School.
  • Todmorden Town Artist: A thirteen month residency that involved initiating, developing and installing three major public artworks for the town through community consultation and involvement. Commissioned by Todmorden Pride with funding from Arts Council England – Yorkshire.
    (i) The Todmorden Plaque Trail; A series of 37 cast metal plaques designed in collaboration with local societies, schools, businesses, churches and institutions and sited at various locations in the town centre.
    (ii) Fielden Wharf Fish; A wall mounted, stainless steel fish and planter sculpture on a 20 x 7m canal side wall. Created in collaboration with local artist/metalworker Nicolas Green and Todmorden in Bloom.
    (iii) Textures of Todmorden; A temporary light installation projected onto the façade of a former cinema, during the dark hours for two weeks in January. In collaboration with art students from Todmorden Community College.
  • Lincoln Towers Leaf Mosaic, Leeds; Seven leaf shaped mosaics for a community garden. Commissioned by Groundwork Leeds.
  • Burnett Avenue Seat Mosaic; created with designs from local primary school children. Commissioned by Groundwork Leeds.

2004

  • Oxton Way Playground, Burmantofts, Leeds. A starfish mosaic designed in collaboration with pupils at Ebor Gardens Primary School. Commissioned by Leeds City Council.
  • Chelsea Flower Show Mosaic. A design based on footprints in collaboration with artist Antonia Stowe.Commissioned by Leeds City Council.

2003

  • Space @ Bracken Edge: Vinyl floor design and mural panels in collaboration with staff and pupils at Bracken Edge Primary School, Leeds.
  • Huddersfield Railway Station: An installation on platform 2 as part of Art Along the Penistone Line. In collaboration with Crosland Moor Junior School and Huddersfield Technical College Art department.
  • The Pad, Callon Estate, Preston; Lead Artist working with Preston Borough Council Landscape Architect and Callon Action to develop and implement artworks for inclusion in a community park and playground.Includes decorative fencing, seating, a maze and mosaics. Project managed by Chrysalis Arts Ltd.

 

 

2002

    • Bradley Golf Course, Kirklees Way Waymarker; A seat / sculptural feature and footpath marker posts, made from recycled timber. Project managed by Public Arts.

2001

  • Malton and Norton District Hospital, N. Yorks; A series of framed, cast aluminium plaques creating a trail along the hospital corridors. Funded by a Year of the Artist Award, (Yorkshire Arts), Scarborough County Council and by the Charitable Trust Funds of the former Yorkshire and Northern Region of the NHS.
  • Making Sense; A sculptural installation, in collaboration with local disability groups, at Wood End Natural History Museum Scarborough. Funded by Regional Arts Lottery Programme, Yorkshire and Humberside Museums Council and a Yorkshire Electricity Access Award.

2000

  • Dent-Network of Gates; 28 cast gunmetal plaques, with community design work, installed onto gate posts, to define a riverside walk. Commissioned by Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust and Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority.
  • Landmark Sculptural Features, Pinewood Place, Knottingley; Lead Artist responsible for the community consultation and design for two entrance features to a shopping precinct. This resulted in an elevated stainless steel ‘pinecone’ and a circular ‘pinecone’ mosaic. Commissioned by Wakefield MDC, project managed by Chrysalis Arts Ltd.

  • Situation Leeds, a group show with Leeds Sculpture Workshop at the Brahm Gallery as part of this city wide festival of art in the public realm.
